With each new ver­sion Pho­to­shop has added more and more fea­tures. The down side is all those extra fea­tures eat up mem­ory and can lead to slow per­for­mance, espe­cially on older machines. How­ever, Pho­to­shop doesn’t just make mod­els look pretty, it bor­rows a lit­tle trick from them to keep svelte—purging.


tak­ing command

The Purge com­mand is listed under the Edit menu and allows you the option to purge Undo states, His­tory snap­shots, Clip­board con­tents, or All of the afore­men­tioned at once. Doing this can free up large amounts of RAM and swap file space for you to dedicate

So, next time you overindulge with three-​​hundred undo states don’t for­get to purge once in a while.
